The fourth quarter of 2021 saw notable trends in the performance of the top carpooling and ridesharing apps on the Android platform in Ghana. Here’s a breakdown of the weekly downloads and active users for the top five apps in this category, according to Sensor Tower data.

Bolt: Request a Ride maintained a strong presence throughout the quarter. Weekly downloads peaked at around 37.6K at the end of September and saw a slight dip in October, stabilizing around 23.5K to 35.5K in December. Active users fluctuated, starting at approximately 702K in late September, peaking at nearly 803K by late October, and ending the year with around 669K.

Yango — different from a taxi experienced steady growth in downloads, starting at about 6.9K and reaching a high of 13.5K in mid-December. Active users also showed an upward trend, beginning at nearly 27K in late September and ending the quarter at approximately 31.6K.

Uber - Request a ride had consistent weekly downloads, fluctuating between 5.5K and 7.9K throughout the quarter. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at around 279K in late September and finishing the year at about 271K.

inDrive. Save on city rides saw a significant increase in downloads, from just 13 at the end of September to around 7K in mid-October, with numbers stabilizing between 4.6K and 6.5K towards the end of December. Active users followed a similar trend, beginning at around 4.4K and rising steadily to approximately 18.8K by the end of December.

Lastly, Shaxi Driver, a newer entrant, showed a sharp rise in downloads immediately after release, peaking at 37.3K in early December before declining to around 531 by the end of the month. Active user data for Shaxi Driver was not provided for this period.
